Our lactation at the V&A Waterfront provides us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase Robben Island from above. The flight, although brief, transports you back in time as you traverse the channel between Cape Town and this World Heritage Site. Approaching the island, one is quickly reminded the distinct, albeit short, distance from Cape Town City to the Island. Home to Nelson Mandela for 18 years, and many other political prisoners, the Island is notorious for its function of incarceration during South Africas Aparthied years. A flight over the island is a stark memory of the sacrifice in isolation these political prisoners experienced. Contrastingly, from above, the island bears it’s beauty and produces and incredible opportunity for avid photographers wishing to capture Cape Town and Table Mountain from afar.
Please note: We do not land on Robben Island.
